 Presidents Message

2010 President's Message

This is an exciting year for New Mexico Healthcare Human Resources Association and I am tremendously honored to be President for 2010.  We are focused on bringing you valuable information with a new Executive Board of Directors made up of dedicated human resources professionals. One of the best changes you will see this year is the change in meeting location.  Our meetings will now be held at Embassy Suites on (insert address).  The new location was chosen because it is a nicer hotel, good parking and centrally located to attend meetings.  Four meetings are planned this year and we hope to bring outstanding speakers and information while we keep the low membership costs. Goals set last year were met by the Leadership of Cindy Paulsen and we will strive to meet these goals this year:

v  Achieve a One Star Chapter Management Award

v  Develop chapter meeting programs that continue to foster expertise in the field of Healthcare HR.

v  Increase attendance at Chapter meetings by 10% compared to 2009 overall attendance.

v  Increase visibility and involvement of NMHHRA Committees in chapter activities.

v  Complete requirements for Four Star Chapter Management Award for 2009.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns or suggestions to help this organization continue to support you in the healthcare human resources field.  I thank you for this opportunity and look forward to everyone’s participation. Your voices will be heard.

Cheryl Ebner, MBA, PHR, NMHHRA President 2010

2009 President's Message

I am thrilled to continue serving you as your NMHHRA president for 2009.  One of the planning tools we used last year and this is ASHHRA’s Chapter Management Recognition Program.  It’s a wonderful tool that helps us identify all the things we should do to effectively manage our chapter’s activities and bring value to your NMHHRA membership.  The reward for accomplishing the various Chapter Management objectives is $200 to $1,000 for the chapter and between one and four free annual ASHHRA memberships. The Executive Committee has worked hard in 2008 to achieve the goal we set for our chapter.  Those goals and how we met them are:

1.  Achieve a One Star Chapter Management Award for 2007.

  • We were awarded the One Star Award for 2007 at ASHHRA in October, 2008.

2.  Develop chapter meeting programs that continue to foster expertise in the field of Healthcare HR.
  • We held four chapter meetings with presentation programs that achieved our goal.

3.  Increase attendance at Chapter meetings by 10% compared to 2007 overall attendance.
  • Our meeting attendance increased by more than 22%, up overall from 86 in 2007 to 105 total attendees in 2008. We exceeded our goal by 12%.

4.  Increase visibility and involvement of NMHHRA Committees in chapter activities.

  • Our chapters were listed in every newsletter and posted on our web site. An invitation to help with our Community Service project was emailed to all members, lapsed members, and prospective members. We met our goal.

5.  Complete requirements for Four Star Chapter Management Award for 2008.

  •  I believe we will achieve this Four Star Award as we have completed all the requirements.

I extend an invitation to each of you to call on me if you would like to share with me what you would like NMHHRA to do for you and anything you feel would increase the ROI on your membership.  I ask all of you to carve a few minutes out of your very busy work lives to read or scan the emails and newsletters from NMHHRA as they come to you throughout the year.  I especially thank you for your continued support, participation and membership in this NMHHRA that is here to serve you.  Thank you,

Cindy Paulsen, MBA, SPHR, NMHHRA President 2009
