The New Mexico Healthcare Human Resources Association is a non-profit, professional organization devoted specifically to healthcare human resources management.

Goals

  1. To advance the development of excellence in patient care by the application of principles, techniques and practices of human resources and related health care facilities.
  2. To stimulate the exchange of information and further the professional education and development of its membership.
  3. To promote research that will contribute to the development of progressive personnel policies and practices.
  4. To promote high ethical standards and foster friendly relations between working professionals in healthcare human resources administration.

History of NMHHRA

The New Mexico Healthcare Human Resources Association began in 1985 as an affiliate chapter of the New Mexico Hospital Association.  Some of its earliest members were employees of Hospital Services Corporation, in Albuquerque, who were instrumental in starting the group.  The Hospital Services Corporation Salary Survey was one of the first things that the group instituted and is still administered by HSC today.  In 1990, the association became an official affiliate chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).  Membership over the years has fluctuated between 20 to 80 members and has always been devoted to sharing ideas directly related to healthcare human resources.

NMHHRA Affiliations

In 1990 the New Mexico Healthcare Human Resources Association became a local Chapter in Region 8 of the national organization, American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).  Through ASHHRA, additional resources are available to members, including affiliation with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), allowing local members to take advantage of discounts for joint membership opportunities.

Chapter Membership

Chapter Membership allows members to attend regular luncheon meetings free of charge, where important informational sessions are presented.  Topics chosen are those most requested by members and interactive discussion with fellow professionals is encouraged.  Meetings are scheduled on Fridays, allowing out-of-town members the opportunity for a long weekend in Albuquerque, should they so desire.  Annual membership dues are $50.00 per year and can be paid at the door.  Reservations are required for meetings.
